I am highly disappointed in the following response, that I have received from UEFA, as a reply to my concerns about blatant and aggressive anti-Hungarian attitudes during a game within the Romanian Champions League. I find it awfully hypocritical, that the representative of the organisation describes in great detail how seriously they take racism and discrimination, but in the same time they also bluntly say that they do not intend to even investigate the matter, and call the whole incident »alleged«, basically shaking the whole thing off, citing jurisdiction. What is really cynical about this response, that I have explained it to them in my letter that the reason we have turned to them was a last resort, given how anti-Hungarian discourse became commonplace during football matches in Romania, while the Romanian Football Federation generally tends to ignore these incidents. I didn’t have huge expectations to start with, but I expected UEFA to at least bring the matter up with the Romanian Football Federation, to remind them of the importance of combating xenophobia and to encourage them to make further efforts in this regard.”
